A brilliant time was had by all at the fourth Long Lunch for Youngcare, held on Friday, 10 July at The Regatta’s Boatshed restaurant.
Friends and colleagues alike chatted over a delicious seasonal menu, listened to inspiring speakers and went in the running to win top prizes – all the while raising over $25,000 so that all young Aussies have the chance to live a young life!
The afternoon was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Abby Mackay and Mary McLean, who dedicated their time, sweat and tears to pull together yet another great afternoon for both guests and Youngcare.
“We’re so proud to say that over the past four years we’ve raised over $60,000,” Abby said.
“We are motivated more than ever to keep the conversation going about how we all can do our part in helping young people live fulfilling, independent lives like we do.”
Big ups to the wonderful MC, Ben who kept the crowd entertained throughout the afternoon and to new Youngcare Share House at Wooloowin housemate Nick, who along with his mother Gill shared their story which left very few dry eyes in the room.
Thank you to the event sponsors Shine Lawyers, St George Foundation and Rowland who dug deep with their support and to panellists Jodie Willey, Paul Blundell and Sarah Dixon who shared what Youngcare and social responsibility means to them. The panel was chaired by Youngcare Board member, and father of Abby and Mary, Paul McLean.
Of course, none of these events are possible without our team of enthusiastic volunteers; thank you for selling hundreds of raffle tickets and helping the day run smoothly.
