Nearly two decades ago, Lisa had a successful career in corporate advertising agencies. She had two university degrees and her life planned out, when she acquired multiple visible and invisible disabilities and, medically speaking, died twice in hospital.
Lisa knew she couldn’t change her permanent disabilities. But she could help influence the powerful industries that play such large and pivotal roles in shaping public perception around disability.
When Lisa first fell ill, she was not supposed to live through the night. But she did – and she’s still defying expectations: rewriting outdated narratives and breaking down the stigmas and barriers surrounding disability. She does exactly this as a proud Youngcare Ambassador.
Using her lived experience to guide the way, Lisa works alongside the Youngcare team to create an inclusive Australia. She hosts ‘That Was Unexpected’; Youngcare’s new podcast that works to change public perceptions around disability, and passionately advocates through events, networking, and social media.
As an ambassador, advocate, proud person with disabilities, and active supporter, Lisa has many reasons to thank you for your kind support of Youngcare…as well as encourage you to continue to give!
“They say that this is the ‘festive season’ but I personally believe that the festivities can roll on all-year-round! Life is precious and I celebrate mine, with disabilities, at almost every opportunity I get. Please help me spread the joy this year by donating to Youngcare’s Christmas Appeal. Your generosity is priceless.”
