New York Diaries — Pt. 4
Today brings our final full day in NYC, as well as another special milestone – Tim’s birthday! What a place to be celebrating in!!!
The skies were the most brilliant shade of blue on our fifth day in New York. Locals exclaimed their disbelief over the mild temperatures for this time of year (around 21°C) – no complaints from us!
To make best use of that extraordinary weather, we headed over to the iconic Rockefeller Plaza to enjoy the view from the Top of the Rock observation deck – 70 levels up. The sheer spread of the city is incredible, with high rise buildings stacked as far as the can eye. To imagine the number of people living and working behind all those windows was mind-bending.
We’re keeping the crew over at the Australian-run Bluestone Lane café in Bryant Park busy, such are the cravings for “real” coffee that isn’t filter or Starbucks. The smashed avo on toast also went down a treat – a staple on any brunch menu back home but a seemingly novel idea over here.
This evening saw the group head in a few different ways – some to see an incredible production of The Lion King on Broadway, others over to the Bronx to watch a wheelchair basketball game in action.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!!!
