Brooke has worked as a volunteer on reception since January and has been instrumental in keeping us all organised.
“For a long time I have had Youngcare on my radar as an organisation that I knew I wanted to be involved with. I can recall the documentary about Shevaune from almost 10 years ago and, as it did then, it still seems quite incomprehensible that young folk with high care needs would not have options when it came to housing and care.
Last year my amazing friend Dan Wilkinson was one of the trekkers into the Simpson Desert to fundraise for Youngcare. At an event Dan organised as part of his fundraising there was a video clip which depicted the amount of young folk who still needed to live in care that wasn’t ideal or without the assistance at home that could make a difference to their lives.
I knew then that when I was able to be a volunteer, Youngcare would be my choice of organisation. Being able to give my time to Youngcare has been one of the easiest things to do because the organisation is full of people who all believe so strongly in their cause. Being a volunteer is one of the most rewarding uses of my time.” Brooke
