Youngcare's At Home Care Grants

Youngcare’s At Home Care Grants: Applications are now closed.

Youngcare’s At Home Care Grant is critical in keeping young people at home with their families, and preventing new admissions to inappropriate housing.

Youngcare’s At Home Care Grants (AHCG) provide funding for equipment, home modifications and essential support that is unable to be funded through other means (eg. NDIS).

This funding is to both enhance the quality of life for young people with high physical care needs and assist them to remain living in their own home with loved ones.

The grants provide one-off funding of up to $10,000 to help those aged 16-65 with high physical care needs who are living at home, and are at risk of entering inappropriate housing. Grants are offered nationwide.

Dates for the next At Home Care Grants

Applications open: 1st July
Closes: 13th August
Panel Meets: 3rd September
Outcomes Notified By: 24th September

FAQs

These are some questions we are regularly called or emailed about the Smartygrants Application process. If your question is not answered here, please contact us.

If you choose Individual – if successful, the Service Agreement will be made out to the Applicant, and the grant will be paid to the supplier/provider. It is fine for a worker to choose Individual and assist someone to complete the application.

If you choose Organisation – if successful, the Service Agreement will be made out to the Organisation, and the payment will be made to the Organisation to then administer the Grant on behalf of the Applicant.

This refers to the name of the actual Applicant – the person with the disability who needs the Grant.

Tick the box for every one of these that the Applicant currently receives. It refers to the current support they receive. If you are not selecting number 2, it is possible they may not be eligible for our Grants. It might be worth calling to discuss.

Only tick what you are actually applying for. If unsure, contact 1800 844 727.

This is where you need to write the name of the item, and then attach any Quotes you have for it and write the amount. Please use Pre-GST amounts.
If you only have one Quote, just leave Quote 2 blank.
Please make Quote 1 your preferred Quote.
If you are applying for more than one item, then you “add another item” and do the same for it.

Add all of Quote 1 column together and put this in Quote 1.
If you have second Quotes, add them and put in Quote 2.
This total might be over $10,000 and this is ok. It refers to the total amount of everything you are hoping to purchase.

This refers to the total amount (pre-GST) that you are requesting from Youngcare. It must be $10,000 or less.

If Total Expenses (above) is $10,000 or lower, then you just tick the “Not Applicable” box.

If Total Expenses is more than $10,000 then you need to write the amount in either the “Government Subsidy Funding” part – this is if you have part payment from NDIS, or MASS, Enable etc. If you do not have any Government Funding, then you write the additional amount needed in the “Other Sources of Funding (if needed)” Section. This will then open the following question box where you need to say how the additional amount will be funded.

If, at the end of everything, you are unable to click the SUBMIT button (it is greyed out), then you have usually either:

  • Missed a question that contains an asterix and you must go back in and find it
  • or you have gone over a word limit somewhere and you must go back and shorten your answer
  • or you have not uploaded an attachment where requested.
