Nothing says freedom like living in a share house with your mates!
5 years ago today (26th June) the state-of-the-art, inner-city Wooloowin Share House development was completed. Located 6km from Brisbane’s CBD the home is an innovative solution to share house living and has allowed young people with high care needs to experience the same lifestyle as others their age.
What sets this home apart is the innovative technology, where lighting, audio, visual, automated doors and blinds are at the touch of a fingertip, allowing for optimal independence. Over the past five years the Wooloowin housemates have been able to enjoy their freedom and live with certainty and independence in a place that is truly their own.
Housemates enjoy the simple things like choosing when they get up in the morning, what they have to eat, and how they spend their days. Nick loves going to his drama practice and even put on a performance at QPAC in 2018, while Trina has been enjoying competing in Bocce tournaments. And Brian has delved into the world of home-brewing his own beer which he shares with the tradies next door every Friday afternoon!
In the next few months, the Wooloowin hub will become home to six more young people with high care needs. The three, two-bedroom villa’s and one three-bedroom house will provide neighbours to the housemates, which they are all very excited about!
