Youngcare loves… Mike Banks
Inspiring local artist Banx (aka Mike Banks) is the talent behind the vibrant art adorning the walls of the Youngcare Wooloowin Share House.
Supporters of Youngcare since 2005, Mike and his partner Kaye Fox run Moving Canvas Gallery in a quirky former church in Stafford, Brisbane and kindly donated six stunning original pieces.

“We’ve helped a lot of charities over the years, but there’s something about the culture of Youngcare that we like, I think it’s how appreciative everyone is for even the smallest of donations, so it’s great to be able to help such a worthy cause that deserves a lot more attention…and for as long as they like my colourful art, I would like to keep donating pieces,” Mike explains.
“Mike’s artwork is so bright and uplifting – the housemates all love the paintings and I think they play a big part in creating the feeling of a warm and happy home environment,” Tash Ross, sister of housemate Brian, said.
Following in the footsteps of generations of artists in his family, Mike is inspired by the vivid colours and intense light of the Australian landscape. Moving Canvas rent and sell Mike’s work as well as that of 20 other Queensland artists and his contemporary work is displayed around the world.
