CEO Sam’s welcome
Happy New Year! 2016 promises to be a big one for Youngcare, and we’re excited to be working together with you to help more young people with high care needs across Australia than ever before.
This year is already taking shape as we prepare to break ground on our new development in Albany Creek, Brisbane. We are delighted to be bringing this innovative development to life in a joint venture with MS Queensland, soon to be home to eight young people with a progressive neurological disease.
We will also be working to expand our At Home Care Grants and Home Soon Grants programs even further in Australia to help more young people requiring 24/7 care.
We’re continuing to work collaboratively with the community, business, government and universities to keep the issues faced by young people with high care needs on the national agenda, particularly as the NDIS brings radical changes. We are committed to ensuring the voice of these young people is heard, in particular on the issue of appropriate care and accommodation.
April will see a team of dedicated and adventurous Youngcare supporters cross the Simpson Desert to raise vital awareness and funds, and I am delighted that Melissa Downes from Channel Nine will be joining us! Additionally we are thrilled by the news that Channel Nine will be producing a documentary on the trek, so we can share our challenges as we take on the desert.
We can’t do any of this without you, so as always, a very heartfelt ‘thank you’ for your support on so many levels.
Onwards and upwards!
Sam
